The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a public agency devoted to research, development and innovation in four main societal challenges:

- Technologies for the medicine of the future;
- Defence and security.
The CEA employs 19,000 people located in 9 centers spread throughout France.
In the field of nuclear energy, CEA’s programs cover a large range of activities: Optimisation of fuel cycle and reactors, safety of nuclear facilities, future reactors, dismantling and radioactive waste management, radiobiology and radiation protection.
